Cold Calling

There’s no magic to it. No mystery. It takes a little determination. A little willpower. It’s like dieting. No fun, but if you stick with it you will see results. The pounds don’t usually roll off the first week and cold calling works the same way. If you do it consistently and make it part of your healthy career lifestyle, you will be rewarded. More prospects turn into revenue producing clients. Simple. Just don’t eat that donut!

There are a million cold calling and prospecting systems. Pick one. Knock on some doors, make some calls, send some e-mails. Repeat.  Evaluate your efforts in 90 days and figure out what works.

Play to your strengths. If you are a morning person, schedule your meetings first thing every morning when you are at your best. After your appointments, make some cold calls and identify new prospects. You can follow up with a call to your new prospects the next morning.
Make cold calling a game. Reward yourself.
Schedule two new appointments this morning and you get a Starbucks. Make yourself earn
that new app or apple pie.
Good things happen to those sales people who are out in the field talking to prospects and clients. Thomas Jefferson’s wisdom includes this thought : “I am a great believer in luck and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.” So cold call and get lucky!
